About Marie

Hello! I’m Marie.

I’m based in Denmark these days (the land of Lego and delicious pastries), but grew up in the south of England, born to two Danish parents. I’ve have been making art since I was little. It started with little drawings and bloomed as the years went by into all kinds of mediums and creations. I studied art in college in the UK, and have since done many courses in different techniques, as well as gaining qualifications in 3D Design and Garden Design. In university I went the English Literature route, but art never left my heart.

Behold! My amazing Nimbus motorbike I drew when I was 7 years old.

In 2019 I suffered a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) that shook my world. It was just a silly accident involving a cupboard. Who knows when something like that’s on the calendar? There’s no planning for accidents. You just have to survive. Thriving comes later… hopefully.

After the injury I lost a lot of my fine motor and gross motor control, not to mention short term and working memory. Art was my way back to me – to retrain my coordination and regain my sense of self. It’s a long story, and parts of it frankly suck, but I got better with the help of fantastic specialists, family, friends and support groups. Big shoutout to the monthly group on Zoom, Concussed Moms, through Concussion Legacy Foundation. Without them, I’d never have begun to thrive again. https://concussionandcte.org/

If you’re struggling, you need to find the right help. And find the people who understand. Most importantly, don’t give up. There IS light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope my art and journey can light a way for you.

Marie 🙂
